Founded in 2008 by Susan Schmidt, a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, Ashford International manages, designs and constructs project needs from small renovation projects to complete design-build turnkey solutions. The company’s mission has always been serving those who serve and thus, the U.S. Government and Tribal Organizations have been their primary focus. Their size gives the flexibility to be responsive and efficient, providing clients with a more cost effective project.
As the company has grown, Ashford International has added capabilities such as in-house design. When necessary, they utilize their trusted ANC (Alaskan Native Corporation) teaming partner which enables them to tackle large-scale projects with ample support.
The SBA 8(a) Business Development Program is a program that has truly changed the business’ trajectory. Encouraged to pursue an 8(a) certification, Susan turned to REI Native American Center for guidance in achieving a certification. During the past nine years, with guidance and assistance from REI Native American Business Center, the organization has grown substantially. Throughout the process, not only has the business increased in size, but its team members have grown personally and professionally through interacting with other peers utilizing REI Native American Business Center.
